last day in Japan

We went back to the tea house in the bonsai garden after walking through the fish market, headed to a few spots that we previously enjoyed from the first days in Tokyo, and relaxed the rest of the afternoon in Shinjuku. Early flight in the morning… see you all in a bit.

back to Tokyo

We made it back to Tokyo, ate some awesome ramen, walked around Akihabara and relaxed a bit. The place we are staying is right in the fish market area so we are planning to wake up a bit early and see if we can catch some tuna auctions.

Nara

We covered almost all of Nara today, and plan to take a day trip to Osaka tomorrow. The deer park was interesting. An extreme amount of tourists took away from the experience, but we tried to enjoy what we could.

tokyo to kyoto

Today we took the train from Tokyo to Kyoto. We were able to see Mount Fuji from the window and got a glimpse of Japan’s countryside. We walked around our neighborhood in Kyoto and were overcome by the amazing traditional style homes. Hoping to get some good photos of those tomorrow. Stay tuned.

finishing up Tokyo

Another long 13 mile day. We spent most of the day in Waseda and Arakawa, with a handful of quick stops all over the larger Tokyo area via the subway. We had lunch at a nice cafe with some small dog friends Mocha (pictured below), Latte, and Cashe. Tomorrow we take the train to Kyoto and will be there for a few days.

around town

Today the rain stopped which allowed for some more exploration of the different districts which make up the large city of Tokyo. We trekked another 13 miles hitting the districts of Shibuya, Harajuku, Akihabara, and Shimokitazawa. The subway system was quite packed today with the salary man headed back to work on this windy Monday. A few kind folks even let us take a picture of them in their, what we found quite interesting, work attire.

rainy Sunday

We woke up early and learned the subway system. Still ended up walking close to 10 miles wandering around Akihabara, then Tsukiji Market.. the famous fish market of Japan, and stumbled upon a teahouse in the Hamarkyu Gardens. We also had amazing ramen in the Tokyo subway station and fought the rain all day.2122232425262728293031323334353637383940414243
